Sylvan Esso are back with Hot Slob, their first new single of 2026 and the next step in their independent era on Psychic Hotline. The track is out now with an official video, and the duo have also mapped out a North American full-band run that stretches from this fall into early 2027.

According to the song's Bandcamp listing, Hot Slob was recorded at Betty's, Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn's studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Meath and Sanborn are joined on the recording by Jenn Wasner, credited for bass, electric guitar, and vocals, and drummer TJ Maiani.

It is a smartly overloaded return: blown-out dance-pop with grit in the seams, built around Meath's body-forward hook and Sanborn's elastic low-end pressure. Consequence reports that the video was directed by Meath, while Relix notes that the song follows WDID, the duo's September single and first release on Psychic Hotline.

The new tour dates begin October 1 at The Eastern in Atlanta and include stops in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, Los Angeles, Denver, Austin, New Orleans, and Nashville. A presale starts Thursday, June 11 at 10 a.m. local time, with the general on-sale following Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. local time, according to Consequence.
