Julia Jacklin has announced The Gem, her fourth studio album and first release for 4AD / Remote Control Records. Rolling Stone AU reports that the album is due September 25, and Jacklin has shared its lead single, Get Away From Me (I Think I'll Love You Soon).

The new song leans into a brighter jangle-pop register without sanding away Jacklin's gift for uneasy emotional detail. Brighton and Hove News says the single premiered through triple j and that its companion video reimagines the album's cover art, which fits the rollout's visual focus on small objects carrying disproportionate weight.

Clash reports that The Gem was recorded entirely in Melbourne and produced by Jacklin with Robert Muinos. Rolling Stone AU adds that the title points back to a Collingwood bar Jacklin found after moving from Sydney to Melbourne in 2017, with sessions taking shape above that same pub at Muinos' Rat Shack Studios.

The tracklist runs 10 songs, closing with I Wish featuring The Maes. Jacklin's last album was 2022's Pre Pleasure, so The Gem lands with the kind of gap that can make a return feel less like routine cycle maintenance and more like a reset.

Jacklin also has UK and Ireland in-store performances scheduled around the announcement and broader North American, UK, and European touring planned around the album. The Gem is set for digital, CD, cassette, and vinyl release on September 25.
