Fat Dog are back with a new single, Go Fuck Urself, and it is much more generous than the title suggests. The South London band’s latest track lands as a bright, chant-ready synth-punk shove, pairing its gleefully rude hook with the kind of huge, communal chorus that feels built for muddy festival fields rather than a private grudge.
That sideways tension has always been part of Fat Dog’s charm. Since releasing their debut album WOOF. in 2024, they have made chaos feel oddly organized: electronic throb, post-punk pressure, pub-rant humor, and live-band sweat all crammed into songs that move like they are sprinting away from their own punchlines. Go Fuck Urself keeps that chemistry intact, but it also leans into the band’s pop instincts more openly. The insult is blunt; the song around it is almost sweet.
Stereogum reports that frontman Joe Love co-produced the single with Oli Bayston, whose credits include work with Olivia Dean and Rachel Chinouriri. The video was directed by Nine Screens, the team of Dylan Coates and Travis Barton, and it doubles down on the track’s cartoonish bravado: Love in a cowboy hat and leather vest, the band inside a wrestling ring, cheerleaders behind them, and pop-star stand-ins looking deeply unimpressed from the sidelines.
The timing makes sense. Fat Dog have a long UK and European run ahead, including festival stops at Nuits Sonores, Get Together, Bearded Theory, Pinkpop, Pohoda, Dour, End of the Road, Reeperbahn, and more. They are also scheduled to support Kneecap at London’s Crystal Palace Park on June 27 and Foo Fighters on stadium dates in Berlin, Vienna, and Milan in early July, before returning to headline rooms including London’s O2 Academy Brixton on October 24 and Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse on November 14.
Go Fuck Urself is not a reinvention so much as a reminder of what Fat Dog do best: make nonsense feel physical, turn provocation into release, and find the singalong buried inside the sneer. Plenty of bands can sound annoyed. Fewer can make annoyance this stupidly fun.
