DragonForce are taking Inhuman Rampage back across North America, and this version of the band has a new kind of firepower. The power-metal maximalists have announced a 22-date fall tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 2006 album, with Ensiferum and Rhapsody of Fire opening every show.
The run starts November 13 at The Observatory North Park in San Diego and wraps December 13 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, with stops in Dallas, Atlanta, New York, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Denver, and more in between. General on-sale begins Friday, May 29, at 10 a.m. local time, according to the tour announcements.
The tour follows DragonForce's early-May announcement that Alissa White-Gluz has joined as their newest member and first frontwoman. The band's own announcement framed her arrival as the start of the Inhuman Rampage anniversary cycle, with debut live performances set for Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple and a 10th studio album in the works.
White-Gluz, formerly of Arch Enemy and The Agonist and now also behind Blue Medusa, is sharing the era with existing DragonForce vocalist Marc Hudson. Consequence reports that the North American trek will be the band's first tour featuring White-Gluz; Loudwire calls it their first headlining tour since revealing her role in the lineup.
Inhuman Rampage is the obvious record to build this around: it is the album that gave the world "Through the Fire and Flames," the song that turned DragonForce into both a metal institution and a Guitar Hero endurance test. Two decades later, the band's whole operating system is still speed, spectacle, and ridiculous precision. Adding White-Gluz to that machine should make the thing even more gloriously overclocked.
